83; Catch Hell Blues

T-shirt: eBay vintage • Earcuff + necklace + belt: eBay (necklace as a birthday present) • Vest: DIY • Pants: Forever21 • Shoes: Steve Madden (TJ Maxx) • Jewelry: so many places! • Crystal necklace: SOULMATES (coming soon!)

Blonde again! I wasn't used to it until I started getting roots. Then I was all, "ahh yeah, that's more like it." I don't know, I like the dark shadow it gives the shaved-side of my head. I can't decide if I just shouldn't bleach that side of my head or not. I've seen other bloggers rock it, but then, would I look just like them? Hmm. Quite a dilemma.

I'd like to draw your attention to the crystal necklace I'm sporting here. It'll be up on SOULMATES later this month! I know you can't really see much of it, so here's a super-close up shot of it. I have more on the way, guys!

I keep feeling some fashion-block upon me, but I'm attributing it to some stress in my little corner of the universe. When I get stressed, I shut down. It's not a good response, and I know it. This time it left me feeling just really blah and gross and frustrated with my appearance. Wasn't a good feel, bro. I'm feeling better though -- I'm actually feeling really great about blogging as of very recently, after having it shown to me my place amongst my favourite blogger girls. It's been really surreal, the past couple of months. My Lookbook sorta exploded and I've gained a lot of followers on this blog, and have had some collaborations with some clothing websites. It's like I'm actually an appealing blogger or something. WHAT.

I don't know, I've always been in the backseat in life. It's strange thinking I might be just vaguely "successful" at this, after a year of blogging the way I have. It's bizarre, but awesome. It makes me happy to be part of this little circle on the internet, to possibly help shape what fashion is for us. It's exciting, and makes me proud to have this blog. I don't have 1000 blog followers or sponsorships flying at me left and right, but I feel like I'm on top of the world, because those things don't make me excited to be a blogger. People would think fashion blogging is just based on dressing up to impress readers, but it really isn't for me. It's the people I meet and talk to, the people who inspire me and show me new and magnificent things to wear, and how it changes me as a person. If I only had ten followers, I'd still be blogging.

I've become so much more confident in myself in so many ways, including my body, because of blogging. I've learned to take risks in my appearance and have discovered how much more like myself I feel when I take those risks, and that those risks don't kill me! I never really felt comfortable in my skin when I was growing up, and I finally just feel...like me. It's made me learn how to become myself, my making me change how I was into what I wanted to be. It's made me less afraid to do bizarre things. It's weird to explain.

Speaking of my lack of body issues, I think my hips got curvier. I hope it isn't from the free donuts I get at work. Oh man, I really need to stop eating those. Immediately. Even if not due to the weight-gain possibility, but because that shit can't be good for the human body.

In other news, thinking of getting hair extensions for the not-shaved part of my hair. Maybe. If I can afford it. I'm almost too afraid to research how much money that would cost, since Sally Beauty sells human hair extensions for over a hundred bucks. I am crying.

Finally, title reference:

Though I feel this song is pretty appropriate for this outfit as well: a Judas Priest + Lady Gaga mash-up that I am obsessed with.

Jeez, is this post long enough yet?

81; A Seance in the Dark

Top: JC Penny • Skirt: Pacsun • Creeps: eBay • Scarf: Fanneuil Hall, Boston • Necklace: birthday gift (try eBay) • Skull bracelet: Waloosi's, N. Leominster • Other bracelet: ShopWasteland.com • Belt: Delia's • Earrings: vintage

Firstly, thank you guys so much for your wonderful support for SOULMATES! As I type this, I've sold three pieces -- more than I had figured! I'm going to keep working on new pieces and designs, and perhaps even a discount code for you readers! I think I can afford that for you guys, especially if I keep selling stuff. You're more than welcome to help spread the word about the shop; here's a few ways:

My hair's almost not blue-green anymore! I've actually recently bleached it again, and it's sooo white now. It's actually kinda weird seeing it back to this colour after over a month. I'm thinking I'll keep it blonde until I have to do my roots, and then I'll Kool-Aid it again. I've bought packets of Orange and Strawberry, and Kathryn says she wants to see me with pink hair. Well, I've always wanted pink hair, so that's probably the colour you'll see me with next!

Also, you can totally see my mis-matched socks three photos up from here. Well, sometimes, a girl just can't find a matching black sock.

I keep getting fashion block, you guys. I've bought some stuff recently, and can't figure out how to wear any of 'em. Then I look at my existing pieces and go, "eugh," and struggle through finding a decent outfit. Perhaps it's partially due to the weather: it was really freaking warm, but it's getting back to chilly. Below fifty for the most of the next week? Are you kidding me, Massachusetts? You tease.

76; Bad Karma

Okay...before I even get into the photos, I have to explain that they came out pretty shitty on this particular day. My camera's LCD decieved me and made me think the photos were brighter than they actually were, so when I transfered them onto my computer, I didn't expect them to be dark and grainy. (Then again...photos that look dark or vibrant on this desktop screen look drained and muted on Kathryn's laptop. I don't know which one is wrong.) Oh well! I did my best in editing the living hell out of them.

Also, in the beginning of the shoot, the sun was out. Then after a few shots, it hid away and completely changed the lighting of the photos...so I'll be posting those last, mainly so that it's less jarring to go from golden-sunny-bright photos to my pathetic attempt at making my dark-and-cloudy photos look passable.

Dress: Insight (via Urban Outfitters) • Vest: DIY • Tights: I have no idea • Creeps: eBay • Necklace: birthday gift

Bought this dress on my birthday. I had seen it on the UO website but for the longest time, it only had one review saying it was horrible. I happened to find it in the sale section in the UO in Cambridge's Harvard Square, and thought I'd try it on. It's AH-MAZING. I wore this outfit out when I went with Kathryn and some friends out shopping the week before last (the only difference is that I was wearing JC Stevies), and I ended up buying a black lace skirt at the mall that I threw on in the bathroom pretty immediately. I was stopped like, two or three times by random people to be gushed at and complimented. That...never happens. Ever. I kept feeling so uncomfortable and really embarrassed -- not in a bad way, exactly. I just can't comprehend people liking how I look so much. I kept wanting to stop them and say, "thanks and all, I really appreciate it, and Imma let you finish, but please don't waste your time on a dork like me. Go find someone who's ACTUALLY cool and tell them how amazing they are." Because I'm not cool. Not IRL. In person, I'm really loud, rambly, I laugh obnoxiously at everything, I'm immature like hell, awkward like woah... Oh man, I am really lame.

Like...I dunno. It's really hard to say, "I dress so eccentrically for me, not anyone else." Because not many people do that, do they? I have found that most girlies dress up to look appealing to others... But no, I just buy pieces that I think are really freaking awesome, and I wear them for my own enjoyment. So...getting compliments is always a shock. It's like, "you like my hair? Even though I look like I fell asleep underneath a lawn mower? You like what I'm wearing, even though I look like a really culturally confused hooker? Whaaa?"

I guess I have a weird double standard, because I'm totally okay with people online supporting my dress sense. I suppose it's because people who like say, grunge, actively look for grunge blog stylists online, and research and find people who dress as such. When you're dressed like the above and walk through a mall, it's like putting a wolf in a pen of sheep -- you sorta stand out, and no one's actively going through the crowd of people looking for people who dress like me to go, "oh my god, I love it!" In fact, your peers often give you a look like you have '666' written on your forehead in blood, or something. I get that a lot lately. (I think it's the hair.)

I know what you're thinking: "well, then, shut up, because people complimenting you in public is a good thing. GOD, KAT, APPRECIATE WHAT LITTLE YOU GET." Yeah, but, I GET STAGE FRIGHT OKAY. But I do appreciate the comments, after I calm down and the anxiety passes. Who doesn't love approval?

I told you I'm lame.

But aside from all of that, I reeeaaally love this outfit. Really. Really. Like...when it gets nice and warm in a few months (probably May...it starts getting nice in May) then I'll show ya guys what it looks like with the Stevies and lace skirt.

Ooohkay, I'm gonna shut up now. ♥
