Blonde again! I wasn't used to it until I started getting roots. Then I was all, "ahh yeah, that's more like it." I don't know, I like the dark shadow it gives the shaved-side of my head. I can't decide if I just shouldn't bleach that side of my head or not. I've seen other bloggers rock it, but then, would I look just like them? Hmm. Quite a dilemma.

I'd like to draw your attention to the crystal necklace I'm sporting here. It'll be up on SOULMATES later this month! I know you can't really see much of it, so here's a super-close up shot of it. I have more on the way, guys!

I keep feeling some fashion-block upon me, but I'm attributing it to some stress in my little corner of the universe. When I get stressed, I shut down. It's not a good response, and I know it. This time it left me feeling just really blah and gross and frustrated with my appearance. Wasn't a good feel, bro. I'm feeling better though -- I'm actually feeling really great about blogging as of very recently, after having it shown to me my place amongst my favourite blogger girls. It's been really surreal, the past couple of months. My Lookbook sorta exploded and I've gained a lot of followers on this blog, and have had some collaborations with some clothing websites. It's like I'm actually an appealing blogger or something. WHAT.

I don't know, I've always been in the backseat in life. It's strange thinking I might be just vaguely "successful" at this, after a year of blogging the way I have. It's bizarre, but awesome. It makes me happy to be part of this little circle on the internet, to possibly help shape what fashion is for us. It's exciting, and makes me proud to have this blog. I don't have 1000 blog followers or sponsorships flying at me left and right, but I feel like I'm on top of the world, because those things don't make me excited to be a blogger. People would think fashion blogging is just based on dressing up to impress readers, but it really isn't for me. It's the people I meet and talk to, the people who inspire me and show me new and magnificent things to wear, and how it changes me as a person. If I only had ten followers, I'd still be blogging.


I've become so much more confident in myself in so many ways, including my body, because of blogging. I've learned to take risks in my appearance and have discovered how much more like myself I feel when I take those risks, and that those risks don't kill me! I never really felt comfortable in my skin when I was growing up, and I finally just feel...like me. It's made me learn how to become myself, my making me change how I was into what I wanted to be. It's made me less afraid to do bizarre things. It's weird to explain.

Speaking of my lack of body issues, I think my hips got curvier. I hope it isn't from the free donuts I get at work. Oh man, I really need to stop eating those. Immediately. Even if not due to the weight-gain possibility, but because that shit can't be good for the human body.


In other news, thinking of getting hair extensions for the not-shaved part of my hair. Maybe. If I can afford it. I'm almost too afraid to research how much money that would cost, since Sally Beauty sells human hair extensions for over a hundred bucks. I am crying.

SO MANY APOLOGIES FOR BEING MIA! Winter sucks something fierce, and between working and trudging through the snow/sleet/ice to get everywhere, I've been left exhausted and with little time to spare. So much hate. Is it spring yet? I don't even need summer -- spring will do just fine.

I did get a day off with Kathryn a week ago, and this is what I wore on our long due trip into Boston. We chilled in Chinatown, ate Indian food, I bought tons of Japanese candy (oh my gosh I never thought I'd find soda Puccho candy! I was being threatened with $10 shipping for ONE pack of that stuff online; ridiculous) and remembered all of the horrible things I would do to live in Boston. I'd list those things, but I'd probably get arrested for simply uttering them in text form.

Though it reminded me that my birthday is coming up (February 12th!), and is on a Sunday, which is one of the two days a week that the Boston's Hare Krishna Temple meets and hosts a free dinner. UH, HELLO, IT'S FATE.

So this outfit is quite possibly what you would call a 'steal' in itself. The shirt (which you will recognise if you saw my YouTube video) was under seven dollars, the pants were about the same price, and the shoes...THE SHOES. These Steve Madden shoes were originally $250, right? Fifty bucks. Fifty. Bucks. I am serious guys, lurk your local Ross, Marshalls, or TJ Maxx (if you're a US resident) constantly. These shoes showed up within the past two months at my local TJM, and went on clearance almost immediately. I am loving that store.

Kathryn calls this my "George Harrison shirt". I can't imagine why. ♥

The status of SOULMATES: pending. I suck, I know. I'm sorry.

Next outfit will be awesome. Believe me. Just wait.

All That Glitters

I'll tell you the truth: I used to hate sequins. I mean, hate with a passion. To an extent, I still cringe when I see some articles of clothing, but those are usually the shirts you spot at Wal-Mart with the crappy sequin work (IE, lightly peppered along a screened shirt), and the like. You know: far from tasteful.

For a couple of months now, I've noticed that sequined clothes are really coming back. I've seen batwing jackets, mini dresses, you name it, all over my favourite online shops, and they're all pretty fantastic. They take me back to my teenaged years when I was introduced to Rocky Horror and seeing Nell Campbell as Columbia. I've now grown extremely fond of sequined items, or just generally anything sparkly. I just think these clothing items will be great to beat to winter blues! (I think Casey and I are the only ones being dragged into winter kicking and screaming.)

I am legit considering those Roller Derby shorts, especially since they're made to order. Even if I can't wear them until next year when it warms up, I'll be ready at least. The only thing keeping me from buying a pair as I type this is my indecision for what colour I want. I'm stuck between black, white, and turquoise. (Also, the model in the very last photo for Total Recall Vintage looks like Mélanie Laurent to me, which probably means nothing to anyone except Kathryn... Well, unless you've seen Inglourious Basterds?)

Also, I'm super in love with these shoes. They're the same height heel-wise as my Ednas (y'know, the brown Victorian ones from Maurices) but since they're platform, my foot isn't bending quite as much, so they're much more comfortable. I'm also surprised at how nice they look. Buying from Wholesale-Dress makes me nervous, considering I ordered a shirt there and received one that was significantly different...same colour, same basic style, but where it has open-shouldered sleeves, it was supposed to have a braided sort of thing going up most of the sleeve, up to the shoulder, where it would poke out. After having something else sent to me, I didn't shop there again until one of my black boots began falling apart and I wanted to get a back-up pair of black shoes. (Also, I felt I needed something a little more summer-y.)

Also, made an impulse buy when I was on Forever21's website yesterday, because I discovered these black denim cut off shorts...with fringe:

Did you catch that bit? With fringe! How awesome are these things? I can't wait until I get the shipment confirmation email -- and better yet, I can't wait until they reach home and I can wear them. I just hope I bought the right size...
