105; Sugarless GiRL (aka New Do; aka End of the World Eve?)

Jacket: TJ Maxx • Sweater: second-hand • Shorts: c/o Sugarlips Apparel • Shoes: Sam Edelman • Tights: JCPenny + DIY • Shortest + longest necklaces: c/o Vaness Mooney • Medicine pouch necklace: Salem, MA

Will this be my last post? Will we live to see Saturday? Is the world truly doomed to disaster come the dawn of Friday, the 21st? Does anyone really care anymore? (Though if the world does come to a sudden, jarring end, it means I don't have to show up for work...)

Oh yes, check out my hair! While I loved my previous hairstyle, I decided it was time for something new. I miss having symmetrical shaggy hair, plus I wanna rock the androgynous look for a little bit. I guess this is something vaguely like a pixie cut? I have no idea. I'm too lazy to Google it and compare.

I nearly kinda cried when I saw that Vanessa Mooney had sent me a package of jewels. "Ermagerd" is probably the most appropriate and accurate summation of my reaction once I realised what was newly in my possession -- except with, I will admit, much more uncontrolable exclaimation.

And of course, appropriate gloating gratitude was expressed on Instagram the moment it happened.

So these shorts are pretty awesome. Snake print cut outs? Uh, yes please, and thank you. Sugarlips Apparel always has amazing stuff don't they?

You could make some seriously great gothic get-ups (see what I did there?) with their pieces, as well as some beautiful boho outfits. I hope to continue working with their clothes because I get freaking whiplash just from the inspiration I get looking at their clothes. I'm surprised at how well the brand is doing, sourcing out to places like Nasty Gal, Macy's, Nordstrom... How awesome is that!

Head's up, remember when I talked about Geek USA, who sent me that beautiful vintage dress? The owner is running a huge moving sale, everything 50% off! Go check it out -- sale ends on January 1st!

Gotta cut this post short and wrap some presents, then I have a date with some 90s sitcoms on Netflix. #FraiserMarathon4Lyf

Also the nonsensical title totally means something, I assure you:

This song plagues my life in the most wonderful way.

The City top: c/o Crash & Burn Apparel • Maxi dress: c/o SheInside • Shoes: Arizona Jean Co. via JCPenny • Tikka: Uma • Vintage Vishnu necklace: birthday gift via Etsy • Poison earrings & Azaria Diamond Necklace: c/o Vanessa Mooney

I had been without internet for about a week and a half -- rather, I should say I have been without wifi functioning on the router. It was uh, quite the headache. Alas, I am back. (With a cold. Awesome.)

I am so fascinated with this top that my friends at Crash & Burn Apparel sent me; it just hangs so beautifully and the cut of it is so quirky. I have actually worn this specific outfit a LOT since they sent this top to me a couple of months ago, and I've also styled it with other pieces, and it kills me to refrain from just doing like, two or three style posts in a row with it -- but I will practice my self-discipline. That isn't to say that you won't see this top on the blog ever again. FAR from it.

This outfit is kind of...spiritual? I'm wearing a lot of personally spiritual items like the tikka, the evil eye bracelet, the vintage Vishnu necklace, the Om Mani Padme Hum thumb ring, plus the Azaria Diamond necklace from Vanessa Mooney is very Eastern styled. Later after these photos were taken, I found a man renting out a cart at the mall selling stuff from Nepal, and Kathryn and I spoke with him for something like two hours about Hinduism. I bought myself a Tibetan prayer box pendant, which you will see pretty soon. He was a pretty awesome guy!

I have to say, I'm gonna miss wearing this tikka -- because I've cut my hair today! I have two other outfits to get posted here so I guess you'll have to wait and see what it looks like once I've taken photos of myself with my new do. (Unless you're buddies with me on Facebook, then the surprise has already been spoiled for you.)

I also need to point out my eye makeup -- Urban Decay's Evidence (blue) and Deeper (brown) blended with some eyeshadows from Mark whose names I don't know. LOOOVE.

Now I'm gonna go reheat my frozen Indian dinner and put Netflix on. This cold sucks.

100; Misrepresented

Top: thrifted ☯ Leggings: Actual Pain ☯ Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell Stevies via Shoe Envi ☯ Beanie: DIY ☯ Poison Earrings: c/o Vanessa Mooney

Someone once told me how they hated the design of Jeffrey Campbell's platform heels such as the Lita/Stevie style because they looked like hooves. Well...I couldn't not with these leggings.

In fact, hoof-inspired heelless heels totally exist.

If these don't show up under my Christmas tree, I will be gravely disappointed.

I have felt surprisingly drawn to Baphomet lately? I wasn't sure why until I actually looked into its origin and symbolism. Its (The Sabbatic Goat) nature as a representation of the harmonious dichotomy in existence, and it's quite a beautiful symbol. Taken from Wikipedia:

"The goat on the frontispiece carries the sign of the pentagram on the forehead, with one point at the top, a symbol of light, his two hands forming the sign of occultism, the one pointing up to the white moon of Chesed, the other pointing down to the black one of Geburah. This sign expresses the perfect harmony of mercy with justice. His one arm is female, the other male like the ones of the androgyne of Khunrath, the attributes of which we had to unite with those of our goat because he is one and the same symbol. The flame of intelligence shining between his horns is the magic light of the universal balance, the image of the soul elevated above matter, as the flame, whilst being tied to matter, shines above it." (Eliphas Lévi)

This is the Baphomet that would be later tied into Satanism; kind of sad if only because that symbolism has been really lost in the mainstream understanding of the creature because of it.

Also, my beanie is pretty rad.

Dress c/o SheInside ☯ Flannel + Velvet boots: Arizona Jean Co. via JCPenny ☯ Trucker Cap: Billabong via PacSun ☯ Azaria Diamond Necklace c/o Vanessa Mooney ♥ ☯ Crescent necklace: Waloosi's Emporium ☯ Hamsa bottle + Hindu prayer ring: The Magic Parlor, Salem MA ☯ Coffin nail earrings: Black Water Siren ☯ Coin belt: thrifted back in Arizona

This outfit is so bizarre, but so fun. I imagine this is the outfit of a girl who wears her boyfriend's (or manlier girlfriend's? Hey she could be a lesbian too) stuff. Similar yet different compared to the last time I wore this dress, huh? I mentioned in that post how it's difficult (in the sense that it's a healthy challenge) to try to wear a maxi dress...because I am one to take multiple crazy pieces and put them togther into something semi-coherent, but having one whole entity feels too boring for me. I actually came up with a whole second outfit that carries a whole different vibe by just ditching the hat and changing the over shirt! (Same shoes, too, though only mainly for the colour...my JC Stevies or my cowboy booties would work just as well.) Suddenly I'm finding alternatives very easily and it feels very rewarding to be able to reuse pieces as such -- mainly because I can't afford to revamp my wardrobe every year with the rushing swarms of trends. I am bone broke, people!

So it means so much to me when I get the occasional email from a company offering to send me an item or two. I pour a lot of energy, money, and time into this little spot on the Information Superhighway and without income except peer responses. Company collaborations are the only "income" I ever see!

Thus I want to talk about how freaking amazing the people at Vanessa Mooney were to send me their jewelry. I typically pass up jewelry for clothes when shopping because that's how my brain is wired, and since their stuff arrived, I have been constantly wearing their jewels. (I am wearing the Poison Earrings as I type this, legit!) This is one of my faaavourite necklaces of theirs. I keep seeing beautiful teasers of their upcoming collection on Instagram and I just throw my phone down every time and whine like a banshee, because the wait is PAINFUL. (Dudes, I keep seeing a coffin ring with a pentagram. I am going to agonise if it's not part of their next collection. Because it is literally perfect.)

I leave you with a wonderful song.

94; Malleus Maleficarum

Stained glass dress: c/o Romwe Vest: Romwe Creepers: Demonia (eBay) Choker: Cobra Shop Fishnets: Hot Topic Bracelets: miscelaneous Necklace and earrings: c/o Vanessa Mooney

Kathryn and I agreed that I look like the protagonist anti-hero from a late 90s vampire movie with Catholic symbolism/undertones/basically "Constantine" but more "Matrix." (Wait, isn't Keanu Reeves in both of those movies? WEIRD.) When you put a leather vest-trenchcoat with a stained glass church window dress, I guess that just happens.

So I was graciously gifted this by Romwe -- y'all know who they are! -- and what the deal is, is that they let me pick what I want to be sent. I have no idea what is up with this dress but I had to have it. This dress just glows with colour, between the firey red and electric turquoise. It's so intense and eyecatching! I also had a pair of leggings sent to me, and you'll be seeing those next. They're insane. They're carrying quite a few of these awesome print-screened items, and they're really amazing!

And now you can tell how short I am in comparison to how short the dress is on this model, and how long it is on me. Weeping.

The heart-breakingly beautiful jewelry was given to me by the lovely people at Vanessa Mooney. I was on my way home from a butt-bustingly exhausting ride home from the Cape, I'd been up since 3am and had been moving non-stop, when I saw their email telling me they wanted to send me jewelry. I opened the .pdf on my iPhone and freaked out. "NO FREAKING WAY," I thought. This is just half of what they sent me, and Instagram buddies probably saw the photo with the other two necklaces that came in the package. I am wearing everything constantly, in fact I think I first wore this necklace specifically to go out to McDonald's for a snack. #memories

I can't fathom their jewelry. Come Christmas, I'll probably beg and whine for people to buy me more of their stuff. And to be honest, I'll be buying some myself.

VM, don't ever stop being perfect, okay?

Sooo I might be changing the name of this blog in the near future. I get bored with the same name after too long. Our names on the internet are our identities, and as you can clearly see, mine is pretty fluid.

I'm going to give it a few weeks, mull it over, do some more reasearch, and all that. I won't change it on you guys overnight -- don't want you checking your dashboards and thinking "who the hell is that? When did I start following them?" Nah, you'll know when it's coming...I hope.

Title reference -- yeah, not quite the obvious!
