WOW I'M ALIVE. (And check out my tat!) I have just been so...I'm not even sure. Enveloped in other things, spending my free time out of the house with people, taking up sleeping during waking hours. (My favourite activity by far.) I think I need people to like, text me once a week and assign me fashion blogging homework. I totally slacked. I'm not quite sure what happened. I sort of...stopped obsessing about this blog I think? But I've taken up secondary hobbies and need (and want) to learn how to juggle both, because I have a bad habit of monopolizing my time and attention on one single thing, instead of focusing on multiple things. Buying clothes is going to become a little more difficult in the future though, since now Kathryn has aquired a car and will need assistance paying for bills, and I hope to jump into cosmetology school sometime. Eek. School. We don't mix well.

Right, fashion blog. Fashion blog things. So, remember how I mentioned that I wear this shirt constantly? I am a fairly consistent girl in this case. I still live in this shirt. You can tell how often it gets washed, if you look at the grey fraying at the edges of the tears in the shirt. This thing is my soulmate.

Also, I never really noticed how prominent my pubic mound-bone-thing is until I wore this skirt -- hey what is TMI? -- which is kind of interesting. Is this like, the female equivilent to having bigger junk? Is it a good thing? Is it acceptable to say, "wow, this skirt really accentuates my pubic mound"? Whatever, I'll take what I can get, since I have the boobs (and overall height) of a twelve year old. Gotta compensate somehow.

I feel like a crappy fashion influence since I typically wait to buy pretty much anything until it's already on sale, and by time it's on the blog, it's dropped off the face of the internet. I got this skirt months ago! It really bums me out when I see someone rocking something awesome from say, Romwe, and when I go to look for it, it's gone. So here, if you guys like this skirt, maybe you'll like these alternatives:

If you follow me on Formspring, you might recognise this outfit a little. I used it to respond to someone's question asking how I put outfits together. (And if you did watch it, you'll see that I picked Litas over Stevies!)

I've felt like crap for the past few weeks. Working lots, strange shifts in weather leaving me feeling crappy, my mother's health deteriorating, lots of uncomfortable and stressful stuff going on in the living situation I'm in... Just, life. It's left me being so neglectful of so many things involving my blog. I'm constantly post-poning outfit shoots and whatever, on the excuse that I don't feel like going out. I've left DIY projects and jewelry making half-finished because I'm too tired. (And I ended up having a huge mix-up with some supplies I bought, which left me a little miffed.)

Things just kind of suck right now, dear readers. I crave a new job, new threads, a new place to reside, and feeling energetic and not sluggish and tired.

And what sucks the most is that I look at the clothes in my closet and go, "ugh." I have to ferret as much money away into my savings as I can, and being on the internet just shows me clothes that I would love but can't afford. I'm trying to stick to budget stuff on Etsy.

I hate to make such a complain-y post. I'm just so frustrated lately, especially with my clothing. I need a revamp, and I don't know how to go about it. I feel like I'm going insane. I need to get back on the ball, get myself into a productive and optimistic mindset. I think this is fasionably-late-seasonal-affective-dissorder or something.

Oy. Sorry about this stupid post. I think I just needed to vent. So, uh...dig my faux-fur?

Oh yeah, I'm re-wearing things again, mainly due to my style block. I keep rewearing the same few things that I love, but I don't typically photograph. Probably because I've been constantly wearing my Harley Davidson tee. You have no idea how often I wear that one. You'll be seeing it again shortly. I think vintage tees are the one thing that gets me excited lately.

Ew, indoor photos. Ew, ew, ew. I hate artificial lighting with the fire of a thousand suns. I'm actually considering buying some studio umbrella lights to fix this. And yeah, I know, I just wore these leggings recently. You have no idea how often I'm wearing them. I'm wearing them with clothes that don't even match 'em, becuase I don't want to take them off. I can't help it.

I DIYed this vest after seeing Iben (of Despite Colour)'s Statue of Liberty headband. I was all geared up to make it like, a few months ago, but I had misplaced the detachable hood and couldn't get started immediately. Then I discovered that Cannibalize (of ET IN ARCADIA EGO) beat me to it by at least a month and a half and had an infinately more badass outcome -- which is totally cool, because I secretly worship this woman. /bias

Also, I'm really dumb and didn't realise until after editing the prime shots in Photoshop that most of the poses that I picked out are the same. Oops. (Though I had tons more shots in different poses, but working with no remote and a tripod -- Kathryn was at work -- I managed to stand out of focus in the photos I left out, so it's more circumstantial than anything else.)


But no one here cares about that crap, when there's a giveaway going on, am I right?

Kathryn said this outfit looks just like the last one I photographed. No it doesn't, I say! Totally different shirt and print on the leggings, boots instead of wedges...the vest was a last-minute decision as I was going out the door. (Though I understand that she was just giving me a hard time.)

So, dig the SOULMATES necklace and earring? The necklace is pretty bland considering what other designs I've come up with in the pendant department (this is actually the first one I made) but it's one of the few I actually have completed. You'll get to see the other pendants in the future, promise! I have other crystals waiting in the wings, mostly clear quartz, but I have a collection of these curious red and black coloured clear crystals as well, that look just wonderful.


The rattlesnake vertebrae earring (yes, real vertebrae!) will be sold as a pair, obviously, but this is the one that I have done so far. I preferred to wear just one anyway, plus it seemed to fit perfectly with the outfit, so how could I not incorporate it? I'll see what I can do about making earcuffs in this style, as well.


I have opened the SOULMATES Etsy shop finally, though like I've mentioned before, it won't be running officially for another month or so. (I had initially decided to not spend any money on this project until after Christmas, but my brain just exploded with ideas when my last paycheck arrived, and I couldn't refrain!) Until then, you're more than welcome to add it to your favourites if you like what you've seen here, so that you'll be the first to see the listings go up! I have every intention on making all of my jewelery as affordable as possible. At the moment it looks like my wares will cost no more than $30 per listing, and that would be the price for something really special, or for a one-of-a-kind piece. (The necklace and earrings shown here would probably cost half of that.) I've been extremely lucky in finding such affordable resources for my jewelery and I hope to keep the sale price of my jewelery low enough for people to feel comfortable buying something. I know what it's like to see beautiful items on Etsy and elsewhere and not be able to shell out enough money, and while I really do hope to make some money (and what money I make will probably go back into making more jewelry, or real life expenses like feeding my cat!) I don't intend to just bleed money out of potential customers. I've never run a shop before, but with Kathryn having taken a business class in massage therapy school, I'll have some help in trying to be the best shop keeper I can be. ♥


Kathryn was nice enough to transfer the logo I had in mind onto the computer. Saved me money that I would have otherwise had to spend! (I will be coming up with more variations of the patterning; I get bored easily.)

 

I have a lot of prep to do: buying little jewelry gift boxes, get the logo above printed into stickers for packaging, restock my suede cord (if I can even find the same colour; it's somehow eluding me in all of the stores I can get to locally) and finish my inventory. I hope to later on, after the shop is open and running, to add alterations to some rad thrifted finds and sell them as well. What would that be marketed as, exactly? Upcycled/recycled? Altered thrifted? We'll see. Might choose the latter one.

I really didn't expect to write such a massive post. I'm sorry! I guess I'm a little too excited; I've been wanting to do this since early this summer, and seeing everything finally come together is really thrilling. I'll shut up now.
