Kathryn was confused when she saw me editing these photos. "Haven't you worn that look already?" I told her I hadn't on the blog, that I only wore this shirt in a blog-featured outfit once before. "Only once? I feel like you've worn this outfit a lot more often than that." It's because I have; this is basically what I live in right now. Kathryn has seen me in this outfit (or some variation of) so much that when I got dressed this day, grabbed the camera, and told her I needed outfit photos, her reply was, "sure; what're you going to wear? Oh...that?" Not in a bad way, but in surprise that something I was wearing so frequently warrented photos. I've also worn this with the American Rebel muscle tee and Aztec blue and red poncho, and with a black slightly oversized leather jacket. It still floors me some days how shifting one or two accessories can really affect an outfit.

By the way, how crazy freaking awesome is this nose chain? I had to do some slight alterations so that the chain would be on the side of my face where my hair isn't. (I also took the fringe danglies off of the actual nose hoop because they were constantly tickling my upper lip and it was a bizarre feeling.) I want the matching ruby tikka WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING.

I also need to address the biker shorts. I really do love wearing shorty-shorts every day that I can, but some pairs that I own just make me feel really freaking uncomfortable. Usually perpetuated by me just feeling all-around awkward some days, the crotch-harrassment from the stiff denim, or the butt-harrassment from the stiff denim makes me pass up these kinds of shorts when getting dressed, and I hated it. So my solution? Shorts underneath shorts, and it is so comfortable! I folded the legs up a little so it didn't look stupid, and bam, makes my favourite shorts even more perfect.

Man, still on the subject of these shorts, does anyone remember Crystalized Vintage? Disarming Darling's old vintage store? Damn I loved it when it was running last year. I remember seeing these shorts on her blog and going, "THOSE ARE MINE," before they were even up on her eBay store. It was also deceptively easy to win them too, considering the bidding wars I had seen on everything else in her store. I was just tiny enough to warrant the right to own them (ie. fit into them), thus cementing the concept that we were meant to be together.

So I really need to stop pigging out, because I can barely fit into them anymore.

This is the most partiotic outfit you'll find me in for the 4th of July. I never saw it as a 'big deal' sort of holiday, but that could just be leftover cynicism from my youth when my mom would get super patriotic to the point of ridiculousness. Stephen Colbert would tell her to tone it down a little. It was only because her parents were in the Navy (it's how they met) so she felt a sense of obligation pride whenever anything related to 'fighting for our country' came up. I always enjoyed the fireworks part, but that's about it.

However, the past 4th of July I celebrated was pretty enjoyable for me, as well as this one. Yeah, you read right. See, in this town, we celebrate it the weekend preceeding with a parade, which arrives at the local park, where a day long festival is held. Local vendors arrive to sell anything they can offer, and at night, it's where the fireworks happen. This took place just yesterday, where I bought these sunglasses and that ear cuff you see. In total I bought three pairs of shades. (For five bucks. I'm serious.) I also bought that cream coloured crystal necklace and three quartz pieces that I plan to make necklaces of. I spent a total of $1.50 on the quartz pieces. DIY makes my life so much affordable and enjoyable.

Kathryn and I spent time with her sister Sarah and her friend Molly for a while, then Kathryn and I went home for a bit (we both worked earlier in the day, and with fireworks not happening for a few hours, we went to go lay down and eat) and got a ride back to the park for fireworks.

We also all got airbrush tattoos. No one managed to get a photo of mine, but it's of a bull skull in that sort of surfer-chic style. (EDIT: turns out a friend of mine snapped a photo of mine, so I'll be posting it.) Kathryn got an elephant (she's very into elephants and the Hindu god Ganesha). It's super adorable, and I got tons of photos of hers!

11; Errands turn into a date downtown ♥

So my fiancée Kathryn needed to go downtown today to the notary with her massage therapy application. She'd been wanting to get a ride down to the notary office, but today was such a nice day that she asked me if I felt like hiking down there on foot. Naturally, I said yes. (I need the exercise.) Again, being such a nice day, and with her being in such a good mood lately, she asked if I also wanted to get lunch at our favourite café afterward. Once again, I agreed.

So, I decided that I wanted to dress up. I've been loving the maxi dress I bought from Disarming Darling on her eBay store and wanted to wear it while the weather was cooperating. It's been getting warmer these days, and I've been all sorts of excited.

We went downtown, got the notary business done, hit the ATM, and I pulled out some cash because I realised that I missed our one local antique store and wanted to see how much it had changed in the year since I last visited.

Where we ate is the Wholesome café, one of the best little places I've ever eaten. They make everything with organic and/or locally grown ingredients, and many things are made from scratch. I had the super delicious California Wrap, made of spinach, sprouts, cucumber, goat cheese, carmellized onions, and pesto in a wheat wrap. I...can't remember what Kathryn got. It's called 'The Veggie' but to my understanding, it was basically the same (spinnach and sprouts) but with carrot and...other things. It was also on Ezekiel bread. We also got the best damned blueberry smoothie ever created.

After that, we hit the antique store, and I found a lovely purse for only five bucks!

This is a blueberry smoothie done right. Made from scratch with almond milk and rice-based ice cream. It's pretty damn amazing.

(Ugh, weird face.) The dress I bought from Disarming Darling. Had to hem up the bottom and the straps, so it fits a lot better now. You can't tell, but I'm also wearing that silver antique ear cuff that I was bidding on in that one post I made about ear cuffs. I really love this dress. ♥

The five dollar purse. Had to cut the strap down which made the leather a little funky there, but no big deal. It's a really cute bag. I worship upholstery-style floral print.

And this post is going to be a little short, because our internet is being really dumb tonight and is taking forever to do the simplest of tasks. God knows when I'll be able to update Lookbook or Chictopia.
